We’re Wes and Angelica, and Oak & Page started the way a lot of good things do: with a pile of books we couldn’t bring ourselves to throw away.
After just half a year of pre-homeschooling our toddlers here in Wichita, we found ourselves with shelves of curriculum that had served our family well and still had years of teaching left in them. We knew how much those same materials cost a family starting out new. So we started passing them on – and discovered there were families all over looking for exactly what we had.
Later, we came across a big haul of curriculum that could have easily been tossed, which led to us selling books on eBay with a simple goal: raise funds for a backyard fence so our kids could run around freely on those beautiful, Kansas spring mornings we all love (and also those “who left the oven door open” summer Kansas days, too!). What keeps us going now is knowing we can continue getting quality curriculum into the hands of families who’ll actually use it at a price that doesn’t sting, knowing that each book is off to start over with someone who needs it.
The name says what we cherish. Oak for the things that last: sturdy, rooted, built to be handed down. Page for the work itself: the lessons, the read-alongs, the quiet afternoons at the kitchen table. The not-so-quiet afternoons on the living room floor. Good books don’t wear out after a year. They just wait for the next family.
Angelica photographs and prepares everything that comes through our shop, with an eye for the details that matter to buyers. Wes handles the grading, the research, and getting each order packed and out the door. We’re a two-person operation, which means when you buy from us, you’re buying from us, not a warehouse.
We grade book conditions honestly, even if we know it costs us sales, because we’d rather you trust us than be surprised. We pack your books with care and ship them quickly. And we treat every book like it’s headed to a family that’s counting on it, because it usually is.
Thanks for being a part of the next chapter.
